Israeli photographer Dafy Hagai shows her new project that is going to come out as small book this september, published by Perimeter Editions.
Hagai, shows a youthful female sexuality and the gaze of desire in the contemporary Middle East. Shot in various nondescript contexts on the Israeli cost, the images is striking for their normalcy as much their restrained exoticism.
“It’s about the nostalgia and aesthetic of girls hanging out in beach towns in Israel. I became interested by these beach towns, their crazy architecture and the people who live there. I also wanted to explore these places from a female point of view. I visited a few of these touristic beach towns through out the country over the last couple of months to shoot this project, some of them I haven’t been to since I was a child.”
